BLACK

It is safe to say… My favorite color to wear is black (this is just one of my 2 closets, in which, are No different). A lot of the time, I will go into the mall or store, searching with a key goal of purchasing anything that is not “black” to liven up my wardrobe repertoire and I end up picking up every “little black dress” I see! I once heard someone say, “I wear black because it makes me feel powerful, I feel more confident about myself.” Murp, I don’t know about all that with me, but I did appreciate what she meant by it…I just happen to like the way it looks! It honestly just goes with everything but probably “happiness”, just kidding. My favorite color is yellow surprisingly but you could clearly see my small little non-existent section of yellow all the way to the bottom right. My mom says its my North East roots, considering I was born and raised in Connecticut for almost half of my life or maybe it is because my whole life’s “developmental stage” was dedicated to black leotards. Who knows…
What I do know though, is how to wear black…
I know it is the middle of June and I know this technically is not the season for my lovely favorite shade, however, there are some cute and trendy ways to make this dark and dingy color seem bright during these warmer months.
1. Give it a Pairing
As much as I love black on black, it does not mean you can’t have a little pop of “something”. The magic secret about the color is that IT GOES WITH EVERYTHING (except maybe navy…but I might let it slide). So why not have black be your stapled piece and work with what you have. Whether you throw on a simple pair of black skinny jeans with that bright colored top or pull out the black tank with the classic black blazer and put on those funky patterned slacks you been dying to try. The fun thing about black is that it lets you take risks without being “too much”.

2. Keep it Simple
Well guess what, it’s summer. So keep it simple! Summer is all about being trendy while trying to wear as little as possible. So therefore, leave the jackets and boots in the closet for next season and show some skin. They don’t call it Little Black Dress for nothing; so whip out those sunnies and hydrating BB Cream.

3. Accessorize
Black is a blank canvas so accessories are always a perfect option to spicing up an outfit. So bring on the bags, earrings, watches, necklaces, and sunnies to tie in a look. OH! Most importantly, who can forget SHOES; shoes are absolutely amazing to help liven up the simplest of #ootd, especially when you wear black.

So there you have it, my signature style…black…and I love it! Feel good, look trendy, and most of all wear what you love!
